Derek Great light, as other mentioned, VERY difficult to open. When you do use a flathead screwdriver you will likely chip the plastic..ugh. Review by Derek (Posted on 9/2/12)

1.0 still can;t figure how to open it! I got this light as a gift three months ago and I'm still working on trying to get it open.... wow, we just did it and I will recommend using two dimes to open it AND directions help in the packaging. Review by Paula (Posted on 5/15/12)

great, trouble had mine for about two years, usually summer riding, love it, though now the button to turn on light is causing me trouble constant pushing will still work, but it is VERY VERY difficult to open, i think i only got it to open once in the time ive had it. Great Light but difficult to open Like all the reviews this light is great but very, very difficult to open to change batteries. I tried to use a coin to open it to no avail. I was only able to open it when I read Broker Bob's review. I was not able to open it with a coin but I used a small flat screwdriver. I basically jammed the screwdriver in and twisted it. Like Broker Bob said, "don't be afraid to use a little force".

Blackburn should find a better way to make the changing of the battery a lot easier.

Replacing the rear light battery When changing the rear light battery use a butter knife to open the object. It works a lot better than the suggested coin because you can control the force with which to open it. It may still do some damage, but very minimal.

Great set! Backlight is easy to open, just use a flat head screw driver and twist lightly! Great product! Get it. The changing of batteries is exaggerated by these other guys. It took me 30 seconds! Review by Leo Poveda (Posted on 3/31/12)

the ligths are great. Hard to open, but the lights are great. Review by Mariko (Posted on 12/19/11)

Great product Mars 1.0 except to open for new batteries. Terrible to open. I found that by using a quarter coin it helped and did the job. One can't be afraid to use a little force, also. Review by Broker Bob (Posted on 11/13/11)

Mars 1.0 impossible to open The lights are great, but the Mars 1.0 rear light is IMPOSSIBLE to open the way the manual tells you (with a coin). The plastic ends up chipping and breaking before you can even get it open. Once the plastic is chipped, it makes it even harder to open with the coin. They seriously couldn't do another way to open this? Review by Adrian (Posted on 9/13/11)
