The Nomad

For years, the Blackburn ethos has been “Inspiring people to ‘get out there’ on adventures grand and small.” We understand that it is not so easy for everyone. Lack of time and knowledge, life commitments, or just not having the right gear all might stand in your way. We also acknowledge that many people do not feel represented, or even welcome, in the outdoor space.

“The Nomad” film has one simple goal; to help illustrate that everyone belongs out there.

Blackburn ambassador Bicycle Nomad, AKA Erick Cedeño, is a nomad in the truest sense of the word. Long a traveler, Erick chose the bicycle to satiate his curiosity about the world around him. A decade after a trip from Canada to Mexico changed his life, the bicycle continues to be his medium to inspire others to push themselves and make their world a little more familiar. For Erick, traveling by bicycle also clears his mind, and feeds his spirit. Over a three month collaboration with filmmaker Brian Vernor, we set out to try to tell Erick’s story. For the filming of “The Nomad,” Brian spent three days with Erick riding and camping in California’s Los Padres National Forest. This film represents just a small part of his story. We hope that this piece can, in some small way, inspire you to get out on your own adventure, be it grand or small.

I’m not from here. I’m not from there. I’m from everywhere. And I belong there.
